Open Call – Curator for Performance Platform in Skopje
MDT Moderna Dansteatern launches an open call for one curator to visit the Performance Platform Festival on 9–12 June in Skopje, North Macedonia. The festival includes a conference block/workshops on the topic (Eco)Feminism in Practice(s): Rethinking Arts and Curatorial Futures, to which the curatorial visit will be associated.
The conference block/workshops will explore ecofeminist curatorial and artistic practices, green policies, and socio-ecological transformation in artistic and cultural production. It will involve intersectional perspectivesthat connect ecofeminist, solidarity-based, and green art practices and policiesfor socio-ecological transformation. The sessions will offer an interdisciplinary exploration of sustainability, ecology, and feminist approaches in curatorial practices. After the workshops, a fanzine for online distribution will be produced.
What’s the offer?
MDT collaborates with Nomas Dance Academy and Lokomotiva – Centre for New Initiative in Arts and Culture to invite one performance art curator to take part in activities during the Performance Platform Festival, in Skopje, North Macedonia, between 9–12 June, 2025. The selected curator will have travel and accommodation costs covered, and will receive a 400€ participation fee.

Stockholm-based curators whose practice involves performance art and aligns with the topic Eco)Feminism in Practice(s): Rethinking Arts and Curatorial Futures.

You can respond to this open call by sending a proposal (letter, video, audio description) of your curatorial practice and why you are interested in the call. Texts should be in English, max 800 words. Audio/video files should be max 2 minutes long.
About MDT Moderna Dansteatern
MDT is a co-production platform and one of Sweden’s leading venues for contemporary choreography and performance. We are situated in a reconstructed torpedo workshop on the island of Skeppsholmen in Stockholm and our facilities include one main stage and two studios. We co-produce, host and present both international and Sweden based dance artists with the aim of providing space for both artists and audiences to develop, discuss and experiment within contemporary dance and choreographic practice.

Lokomotiva – Centre for New Initiative in Arts and Culture is a small non-profit organization founded in 2003 in Skopje, North Macedonia. It has the role of a multi-purpose platform for education, reflection, research, discussions, production and critical thinking in the field of contemporary arts and culture. Created in 2005, Nomad Dance Academy is a Balkan contemporary dance network which is active in the field of dance education, artistic creation, production, as well as promotion, advocacy and cultural policies for dance. Through its cultural activism, it seeks to strengthen various creative and artistic forces in the local and regional contemporary dance contexts of the post-Yugoslav region, in order to contribute to better conditions for contemporary dance development and better working conditions for artists. The partners of Nomad Dance Academy understand contemporary dance and choreography as an artistic and social practice, which deals with working conditions, production, construction, performing, mapping and thinking various presences, absences and representations of (human) bodies, as well as their traces, manifestations and potentialities in the past, present and future.
