Magdalena Forster is a choreographer and performer based in Vienna. Her work is characterized by close relations and explorations of material, sculpture and sound. Forster engages with space through intuitive curiosity and flirting with the potentials of the unpredictable. Recoding a sense of anchoring and belonging, her practice centers attention on intimacy through a body language of transparency and stimulation of tactile imagination.

Recent Works Hearth (2025) and Bile (2023) have been coproduced and presented at Tanzquartier Vienna and supported by the Municipal Department of Cultural Affairs Vienna, and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sports. Other works have been presented in Kunstraum Niederoesterreich, Kunsthaus Zürich, Angewandte Interdisciplinary Lab Vienna and Sonic Territories Festival, among others. Besides own artistic creations Forster enjoys working for collegues, she was guest lecturer at Studio 3 University Innsbruck in artistic design and is part of the advisory board for music at Donaufestival.

PRÉAC with Volmir Cordeiro

Magdalena Forster is the selected artist invited to join a seminar of PRÉAC (Pôle de Ressources pour l'Éducation Artistique et Culturelle) to the topic: Narratives – can we make fiction without making stories? The place of narrative in choreography: the relationship between abstraction and narration, and fictional modalities in choreographic composition, in particular. The seminar is led by the guest artist Volmir Cordeiro and takes 5 days, from 24–28 March 2025.

Further Magdalena gets the opportunity to extend her stay to develop her own research work, but also to be involved in the other activities of the venue and the local context of dancers and professionals at the ICI-CCN from 17–21 March 2025
