Enkidu Kaled & Mara Nedelcu
Artistic Exchange Residency 2025
The tandem Enkidu Khaled and Mara Nedelcu unites the skills of a theater maker and performer with those of a creative cultural manager. While both of them grew up in regions marked by social and political transformation (in Iraq during the war and in Romania in the years of the revolution), they have learned to always look for a new dawn. During the past 15 years, they both navigated between disciplines while challenging existing structures: They have developed a rich network through various collaborations with independent artists, curators and institutions from the theatre and arts sector in Belgium, Germany, Romania and beyond. They often play a role of connectors when initiating and conducting artistic collaboration for professional encounters and exchange. They created and supported work environments where multiple players could draw on and learn from each other's views and spectrums of experience.

Storytelling through generations
A research process focused on trauma perpetuation and artistic tools of healing
What is our agency when stories of violence stain the backbone of our daily reality? If a trauma we experienced has been impregnated to our DNA and eventually transmitted to our children, how can art, storytelling and artistic process be a path to healing? Our endeavours to establish a relevant artistic practice in connection to the social body lead us to venture in a research process focused on trauma perpetuation and artistic tools of healing. To explore different perspectives, we invite into the collaboration scientific researchers to find out more about their approach to heredity and genetic transmission of trauma as well as trauma therapists.
