HOT BODIES is a program line organised by ICC (Imaginative Choreographic Center) that supports, stimulates, and nurtures new generations of artists in the field of choreography and dance. This 4th edition of the programme will take place in Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia, (Bulgaria, EU). It provides a context for newcomers to the field of choreography and dance, allowing them to explore their artistic interests from the perspective of current freelance dynamics.

This programme is formed and dreamed as space for co-sharing and co-imagining the freelance dynamics in the field of choreography and dance and it's directed towards newcomers in the field. The programme will take 3 weeks starting with a series of co-sharing lectures, leading into studio work in the company of international artists from the field. The wrap up days will include public presentations of the process in three different cities in Bulgaria and accompanied by formats of feedback and after-performance dialogues.
 

The working language for HOT BODIES #4 will be English.
 

PLAN AND CONDITIONS
DATES: 6th of May until 30th of May (included).
LOCATION: Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Sofia, (Bulgaria). (Specific locations to be confirmed).
WHAT ICC COVERS: accommodation, rehearsal and performance space, salary (1000 BGN BRUTO).
TRAVELLING: we ask you to cover your own travel expenses to and from the start/end cities in Bulgaria. Please, do not hesitate to contact us in case you need support letters for funding applications. Travels inside the program will be covered, (Burgas to Veliko Tarnovo, Veliko Tarnovo to Sofia).

ACTIVITIES
• Studio work.
• Sessions with accompanying artists: Igor Koruga, Ida Daniel and
Zhana Pencheva.
• Series of CoSharing Lectures around “Social Media tips and tricks for
artists”, “Finding Funding and Budgeting”, “Freelance Lifestyle - tips and tricks” and “Presentation - how to talk, write and put on stage our work”.
• 3-Day CoSharing Workshop “How to provide and receive feedback”.
• Presentations.
 

FOR WHOM
We are inviting emerging artists who are in the early stages of their artistic experience in the field of choreography and dance. We are offering ten spots and will accept a minimum of six applicants from Bulgaria, at least one international participant, and at least one participant from the Balkans. We are open to applications both from artists who work alone or in a group as co- authors. Please, note that each individual counts as one spot and will receive the full participation coverage.

TECH: All the participants will receive technical support before and during the public presentations.

DOCUMENTATION: Each participant will receive photo and video documentation of their process and presentation.
 

AS PARTICIPANTS OF HOT BODIES YOU ARE EXPECTED
• To engage fully with your artistic process from 6 to 30 May 2024, resulting in three public presentations. The format of each presentation will reflect the stage of the process you are at, with the aim of the final presentation being up to 15 minutes in length. The presentations will not necessarily function as the premiere of a finished piece, but also as a moment of sharing the process. They will take place in each of the cities mentioned above. (To ensure full participation in the programme, the selected participants will sign an agreement with the NGO Garage Collective).
• To participate in the sessions with the accompanying artists during the research/creation process. Each participant will be offered 2 to 4 hours of individual meetings with active figures from the international
choreography and dance scene.
• To participate fully in the CoSharing lectures and the CoSharing
workshop.
• To participate in the discussions with a wider audience and
professionals in the field after the three presentations.

HOW TO APPLY?
Please bear in mind that HOT BODIES #4 is intended for artists who haven't yet encountered the dynamics of freelance work in this field, or who are just starting out.

• To take part in HOT BODIES #4, send information about YOU and YOUR INTEREST in choreography and dance in relation to an IDEA that you would like to WORK ON.
• You can use whatever media/approach you feel is most appropriate: text, image, video, audio, etc. The length is up to you (a quick tip: longer or bigger doesn't mean better).
• THE DEADLINE FOR APPLYING IS 19 February 2024. Results will be announced on 26 February 2024 through mail and ICC social media.
• Send your application via mail with the subject HOT BODIES #4 / *Full name*.
• The selection jury will be formed by Zhana Pencheva (ICC team), Ida Daniel (ICC team) with Elena Marinova (coordinator of the program HOT BODIES).
